LA Times columnist Susan Carpenter has written a review of Star Motortcycles’, new for 2007, V Star 1300. It appears in the March 21 LA Times online which you may find here.
The 1300, which is over 240 cc larger than its sibling, the V Star 1100, includes new updates such as liquid cooling to combat it’s now four, rather than two, valves per cylinder which do result in more heat, but also increased power.
Carpenter likens the bike to a ‘Mary Ann’, in the classic Mary Ann versus Ginger debate from Gilligan’s Island fame. Says Carpenter,
Star Motorcycles’ new 1300 cc V Star is definitely a Mary Ann — unintimidating, low maintenance and just as happy to grab a burger as dine on filet mignon.
The stock model will set you back about $10,090 for a basic setup. But options galore are available via Yamaha, which manufactures the Star line.
