When interstate highway riding is fun

I suspect that I am like most bikers in that I really don’t care to be on the interstate unless absolutely necessary. I will plan my route to avoid the interstate highway system as much as possible and instead travel the more scenic highways that are usually a little less traveled and remind my of traveling while I was growing up.
I do know of a few bikers who avoid the interstate at all costs. Simply refusing to ride on them. Saying that there is simply NO reason to ever get on them. Well, to that I have to disagree.
I have actually found ‘proof’ that there is actually a few good areas to ride on the interstate. The one in the picture is a stretch of I-20 in far West Texas.
As you can see in the photo, you have long, straight stretches of asphalt. Nothing special there, huh?
But your also have limited, almost non existent traffic. And, you have an 80 mph speed limit!
Now what biker wouldn’t like the opportunity to hop on their bike and ‘open it up’ without having to worry about too many cagers?
Enjoy!

Looks like you’ve only got about 100 yards to get to 80mph before you have to drop back down to 70! Kind of odd seeing two different speed limit signs so close. One must be temporary??

Jim - The second sign is the ‘Truck Speed Limit’. Just can’t see it in the online pic.
