Harley Davidson and Ducati to merge?
As strange as that may seem to some, it is a possibility, according to a June 12, 2007 report in Financial Times. You can find the article here.
Stating that a merger with HD would be “totally complementary”, Ducati CFO, Enrico D’Onofrio also said that Ducati Motor Holding would consider a merger with HD “anytime”.
Onofrio goes on to say that while HD could stand to benefit by expanding internationally, Ducati would certainly benefit on the procurement side as HD is able to get better quality products at lower prices.
Although it would be one to three years before Ducati would be in a position for a merger, it is interesting reading in any case.

Pork and Pasta? Woe to the bastards of this marriage
Here is a proposed marriage forged in the fires of hell.
The article proposes that Ducati and Harley Davidson join forces.
What would be the sense of it?
What of the spawn of this union?
Would we end up with lightweight Harleys that are fast and would handle with out a million pieces of chrome?
OR
Might we end up with fringe and skull adorned race bike frames without the power, braking nor handling dragging footboards and extra lights sounding like a double order of mashed potatoes?
The culture of these two distinct marques will be an unfortunate and untimely clash for both companies and the loyal consumers.
Will the days of high speed wobble be over for Harley or just beginning for Ducati.
What of the Ducatista and the HOG faithful. Put them in a blender? Sorry, the black and orange sportbike is already made by KTM.
Do we really need a chromed and lowered Screamin Eagle Ducati dragging cushioned floorboards with a one of 1000’s paint job and ape hangers?

IMO, this would be disastrous for Ducati…ugh, I hope…pray that this never happens.

Mike - May be that Ducati is using this as a ploy to garner interest from another company. Of course, stranger things have happened. I would have never thought Daimler and Chrysler would have merged either.
Koolio - I don’t know that it would be disastrous for Ducati… But what about for Buell!?!?!

So if this merger happens and they combine the 2 brand names, will YUPPIE “bikers” get tattoos that say “DuH”? just a thought Pumpkin

Or maybe ‘DoH’. Then they could use Homer Simpson as a spokesperson!
