If you are wanting to join the ‘green team’ and still ride your motorcycle you might want to check out a new offering from Enertia Bike. You can find their web site here.

According to Enertia, a regular motorcycle is about two-times more efficient than an automobile. But Enertia claims it’s electric motorcycle is more many times more efficient when you look at a ‘well to wheel’ comparison, which they say is an apples to apples comparison.

With a whole section entitled ‘Green Fact’, I’ll leave the explanations up to Enertia and encourage you to visit their site for more info.

Enjoy!

According to Jeff, here is all you need to do:

Find the American IronHorse show truck, which will be located at 4th & Lazelle in downtown Sturgis.

Find one of the cute, 2007 BikerDollsGoneWild Calendar girls who will help you complete the entry form.

That’s it!

Then you just enjoy the rest of your time in Sturgis until I ride away as winner of that new Bandera as well as those beautifu BikerDollsGoneWild calendar girls.

By the way, after they help you complete the entry form, the calendar girls will also take an Official Event Photo with you and give you a free sample from Doc Bailey’s Leather Black!

And if that is not enough, here is one more thing from Jeff and I to encourage you to register. If you mention this blog, they will give you a free t-shirt! And what biker ever has enough t-shirts?

So for those of you who will be making the trek to Sturgis 2007, be sure to stop by the American IronHorse show truck sometimes between the hours of 10 AM to 7 PM starting Friday, August 3rd through August 11th, sign up and collect all your goodies.

And don’t forget to mention BeatnikBiker.com to get that free t-shirt.

Enjoy!

With the announcement of the 2008 models coming up next week, there is an abundance of thoughts out there as to what will and won’t be in next years Harley line-up. So I decided to go ahead a put my prediction out there. Not anything real specific, mind you, but one of the things that I believe we will see for the 2008 model year.

That being the addition of a bike with a large, perhaps and big as 280mm, rear wheel. It also wouldn’t surprise me to see this larger wheel on a bike with a greater front in rake.

I believe that Harley’s numbers have been affected (severely in some cases) by all the ‘custom’ chopper manufacturers out there and will be finally trying to do something about it.

So I am out there. In ‘print’ as saying that I think we will see a production model Harley chopper with a wide-rear tire.

But what about you? What are your thoughts as to what we will see new from Harley? Wanna be brave and make a statement now? I would love to hear your thoughts. We could even have a little informal competition to see how is closer to being right.

I’ll look forward to responses from the brave few who are not afraid to put themselves out there.

Enjoy!

Fellow blogger, and fellow MBI member, Mike over at Bikes in the Fast Lane is looking for a little help about a motorcycle I mentioned to him a couple of weeks ago. You can find his blog request here.

I was watching the Space Shuttle Tribute episodes of American Chopper and saw this fire-breathing dragon bike be rode in by a visitor to the show. I think I remember Paul Sr. saying they met him at Daytona and that the dragon bike rider was from Argentina.

In any event, Mike is looking for more info on the bike.

His interest has piqued my interest, but I need help. Any of you readers know anything about the bike? It would be greatly appreciated if you would pass it on to Mike or myself.

Thanks bunches!

Although they don’t field a football team (or any other athletic team that I can tell), Chopper College looks like a fun place to go. You can find their web site here.

So, what is Chopper College you ask? Well, according to info on the site, it is an intensive, three-day course that provides you with hands-on experience in building a chopper. A chopper being a unique expression of the builder and/or owner of his or her bike.

As per the training provided, here is what Chopper College has to say.

Chopper College is a training school that combines a 300 page course book with the hands-on application of ‘real’ techniques. This 3 day course will definitely improve your skill set and provide you with facts, tips, and creative ideas enabling you to build your own chopper.

Chopper College also offers classes on All Engine, Trike Building, Advanced Bike Building and will even provide you with private instruction.

Looks to me like a fun place to go to learn the basics of bike building.

Enjoy!

The May 2007 issue of Fast Company magazine has a nice piece about Rich Christoph, the 27 year old lead designer of the new Harley Nightster. You can find the link here.

In the article, Christoph says his goal with the Nightster was to create a bike that people were inspired to ride. He didn’t envision the Nightster owner as one to just have this bike to polish and show off.

He goes on to talk about the design of the bike by saying:

A lot of the cues are from the ’50s and iconic to that era. I’m trying to salute that rebellious generation, because they invented cool. After World War II, servicemen would take their military Harleys and cut off the parts they didn’t want. It gave them their own identity and kind of started the custom-bike craze on a mass volume. Now it’s an integral part of the Harley-Davidson experience. The holes in the fenders, belt guard, and axles, as well as the pared-down rear fender, make it so visually clean that it’s a great blank canvas to start with.

In closing, Christoph says he designed the bike to appear made from individual parts that cause people to wonder, ‘… is it legal?’. By doing so, he feels he has accomplished his mission.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about our tour of the American IronHorse factory and about their soon to be released new models. Well, it appears that the new models are ready to go as they are now on the American IronHorse web site.

The new models in the Rally Series include the Bandera, the Judge and the Classic Chop. We actually saw some of the Banderas and even posted a pic of one.

But for you die-hard fans who want your info straight from the source, you can now get it from AIH. Following are links to each of the three new models.

For the Bandera, click here.

For the Judge, click here.

For the Classic Chop, click here.

Take a look at these new offerings from AIH and let us know what you think. I see them as a great move by AIH to help get people into a quality, custom bike at a little lower cost. But what about you?
